Report & Results:
With snow covering the slopes of Cuilcagh and primroses lining the forest paths, it truly was a fresh Spring day at Florencecourt for the ILDRA endurance ride. Fortunately the snow soon melted and the sun shone on the many competitive and pleasure riders who made the long trek to Co.Fermanagh. With increasing fitness levels as the season progresses, several riders chose the longer distance rides and are to be congratulated in achieving their goals - particular mention should be made of young rider, Emma Greer who successfully completed a first 50 mile (80 km) ride on Abbey Star, whom she has brought through the Bronze and Silver Shamrock Awards with a view to reaching Gold Shamrock level. For Jane Thom on The Gymnast, the day was well worth the trip, as she rode 25 miles/40 km to receive her Bronze Shamrock Award.
Attending veterinary surgeon, David Nealham MRCVS, had a long but trouble free day, with many of the riders undertaking longer rides involving mid, as well as pre and post ride vettings.
Once again, thanks are due to organisers Kathy Conly and Kirsten Conly-Devlin, ably assisted by Alistair Conly, for arranging, marking and managing the ride so competently.
The next Ulster Branch ride will be on Saturday, 25th April at Castlewellan Forest Park, when Pleasure and Competitive rides will be available - contact the organiser 02890 651751 or see the website for details. Please note the date change for this ride - it is on Saturday 25th April (not Sun 26th April as earlier published). ILDRA is also running a series of Schools Rides and a Training Course open to interested participants - see website for details.

All welcome for a great ride to Florencecourt Enniskillen to a beautiful National Trust property through the forest and into a ford to cool the horses feet down. Brilliant ride for all.
Ideally suited to younger children requiring adult accompaniment as it is a fairly flat ride.
