Report & Results:

The 6th of March brought ILDRA Leinster Branch to Inistioge on the banks of the Nore. This venue is always popular and was to be the first offering of CTRs of the year . Straight away a 80km cte was requested along with several 32km CTRs.

The day started bright and sunny however unfortunately the damp conditions moved in. This did not subdue our riders who took to the course with great gusto.

First out on course was Nicola Tighe boud on "Inchaallah Claddah "to do an 80km CTR  closely followed by Jane Doyle on Castlewarren Lass and Stephen Trant on his TB affectionaley known as Pierre due to the fact that he is a French bred retired  race horse bloth attempting their first 32km CTRs  also doing her first 32km CTR was Halina Budzyk on  Frandore Al Maury. All three 32km riders are relative newcomers to Endurance and we wish them the best of luck for the upcoming year ,and hope that Endurance  turns out to be all that we know it can be for them.

We also saw out several pleasure riders some new to endurance and some seasoned competitors so welcome to all for this new season.

The course in Inistioge is always a good course to ride with plenty of good going and room to make good time. But it is also quite hilly in places so knowing your horses fitness levels and being sensitive to the distance and speed is vitally important.

Once again Inistioge rode fantastically well with all riders commenting on how nice it was and on the beautiful scenery (those who had time to admire it) all riders completed their CTRs successfully. It was great to see all horses finishing so well in such good condition and with low heart rates. Well done to Nicola Jane Halina and Stephen  hopefully the bug has bitten for those who are new to endurance and we will see you swiftly move up the ranks in ILDRA to receive your shamrock awards.

Thanks has to go to Mr. Michael Griffin for doing Vet duties for us on the day also thank you to the O’ Carroll family for course prep and marking.also thankyou to Coillte for allowing us access to the forrestery.

We will be returning to Inistioge on the 22nd of May so keep your calendar free for that date.
