Report & Results:

Florencecourt - 50 miles of Lakeside

It was another long drive for many ILDRA riders as we headed west again, this time to the beautiful National Trust property and surrounding forests at Florencecout in Co. Fermanagh. The day started well with good riding weather and the forecast rain stayed away until most riders had finished.

Once again we are grateful to David Nealon MRCVS for his veterinary support and to Kathy and Kirsten Conly for organising the ride. We are delighted to report that all starters completed.

Florencecourt facilitates a 16km loop of mainly forest tracks but some with good going allowing decent canter sections. Pleasure Riders completed a slightly reduced or full 16km loop whilst competitive riders had to repeat loops to achieve the target distances.

Notable rides on the day included both Mary Thompson and Asparina achieving their Silver awards with a successful 64km (40 mile) finish. Emma Hayes and David Cunningham both started on their route to their Silver with two experienced Endurance horses helping them move up through the grades.

Our thanks the National Trust and staff at Florencecourt for facilitating access to this exceptional venue. The variety and geographic spread of venues used to host rides in Ireland by ILDRA is thanks to the generous landowners and pubic bodies who allow us access to the many excellent venues.

More Details:

All welcome for a great ride at Florencecourt Enniskillen, our second trip to the West this year, to a beautiful National Trust property. Ride through the forest and into a Ford to cool the horses feet down and let them have a drink. Brilliant ride for all.

Ideally suited to younger children requiring adult accompaniment as it is a fairly flat ride.

Yet another reminder - ALL CTR entries must be with the ride organiser by closing date. You can enter on-line or by post. If by post remember to inlcude your payment. Links to form and on-line system below.
