Baronscourt - A picture in Spring

Endurance riders in Ulster were privileged to enjoy the unparalleled delights of Baronscourt estate in Spring - rampant rhododendrons, late bluebells, frisky lambs, destructive deer and everywhere buzzards wheeling overhead. Competitive riders had the opportunity to train over the demanding trails up and down Bessy Bell and the Pleasure Rides took in the woodland canters through the estate and round the lake.

A cool and cloudy morning provided ideal riding conditions and some crews were even spotted running the trails!

Huge thanks are due to organisers Kathy Conly and Kirsten Conly-Devlin for their tireless work in ensuring the successful running of this ride, including last minute route deviations due to fallen trees. Attending veterinary surgeon, David Neelan MRCVS, was pleased to see the ever-increasing fitness of the horses being competed regularly - perhaps the less said about rider fitness the better !

Notable achievements for the day were Emma Hayes and Yasser Arafat who successfully completed their Silver Shamrock Award with a 64km (40mile) ride and Morgan Skillen with Diamond, who also finished their 64km (40mile) ride in final preparation for their international debut at Seacliff in Scotland next month.
